When I started with James, we sat down and spent time discussing my goals, both short term and long term. What impressed me the most was his focus on how I was doing internally, where my stress levels were at both personally and professionally, how much sleep I was getting, do I have support from my friends and/or family in regard to my change in lifestyle He really focused on things that most people take for granted when considering a lifestyle change and fitness program. I learned a lot from James early on, like a lot of people, I underestimated the importance of adequate rest and recovery, in addition to nutrition and training I started tracking my macros because that worked well for staying on track with fitness goals but also in being mindful of what I was putting in my body. James was great about checking in with me daily, and most of the time it had nothing to do with training. He would just say “hi” and to see how my day was and how I was feeling that day. He also knew that I had to keep my thyroid levels in check and am also perimenopausal, so balancing my fats and tweaking my macros to make sure I had enough energy was something he taught me about as well. We would gauge each week and James would adjust things as needed, depending on my energy and stress levels and how hard I trained. We would concentrate on my goals and track my progress. He even accommodated my request when I told him I had a killer red dress that I wanted to look amazing in for an event I had coming up in a few months. and sure enough, with following his guidance, setting realistic expectations, and sticking to the program he laid out for me, I looked AMAZING in that dress. James also helped change my internal narrative, helping me focus on being kinder to my body, less critical, and learn to love all the wonderful things my body does for me. I learned how to be more present and really focused on the small changes that turned into noticeable changes. I felt my absoulte best when working with James and he even listened to my horrible dating stories while coaching me through deadlifts.
